Hi Ladies,
I'm taking advantage of the distribution list - please forgive me. But I
have an opportunity for you.

Global Village Gifts is Logan's 10,000 Villages gift shop - offering
"fair trade" gifts for sale. (Fair Trade means that they aren't factory
produced, but made by real people, from around the world who are paid a
living wage = wages to support a family of 4 with food, housing,
education and health care. There are lots of great stories behind the
products.)

It is a non-profit, volunteer run store (no one gets paid). Money goes
back into merchandise or into the community (other local non-profits).

Our hours/shifts are:
Thursday: 12-3 and 3-6
Friday: 12-3 and 3-6
Saturday 10-2 and 2-6

We regularly need help with sales, merchandising, and writing training
procedures. (There is also yard work, cleaning, repair, etc - but those
aren't as fun or interesting. But the flower beds really do need help!)

Besides these hours we have the Gallery Walks (July 11th, 6-9pm), The
upcoming Sidewalk Sale - downtown (July 10-12, 9:30am - 8pm - lots of
shifts), Art Attack at the Gardener's Market (next one for us I think is
July 19th) and other outreach events - to let folks know who we are.

We could use your expertise and creativity. It's fun. I call it playing
store and you get to meet all the cool folks that come into the store and
work at the store.

We give volunteers a trial period (let you work a few shifts)- so you can
decide if you are committed and then ask for a 'regular' commitment (a
day a month, Christmas, Gallery Walks, Sidewalk Sale, Art Attack at the
Gardeners Market - something we can count on. You get to decide.)

PS. Men can and do work at the store and we even have some
mother/daughter combos - a bonding experience. The young girls love
playing store while the moms help.
