The maples are turning red on the Wellsvilles and the fall is also supposed to be a great time to observe migrating rapters, so I thought this might be a great time for a Wellsville Hike. The hike to the ridge is 3 mi one way and strenuous. For those who are interested, there are hikes along the ridge to Hawk Watch Peak (.7 mi one way) and the Wellsville Cone (3.2 mi one way).
We'll meet at 9:00 am on Sunday September 21st at the Ranger Station and carpool over to Mendon for the Deep Canyon hike. In the past, we've been able to work out the carpool at the ranger station to identify people who want to take similar options.
Bring plenty of water and lunch. The Wellsvilles are also noted for being windy, so be prepared with a jacket or extra layer.
