Why a Pineapple for a logo?
The pineapple is the traditional symbol of welcome and hospitality since colonial seafaring days. When New England Sea Captains returned from long voyages to the South Seas a pineapple would be placed in front of the captain’s home to signal his return and to welcome friends in to share his good fortune.
We also like the associated “Aloha” and “Luau” type of theme. Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, love, peace, compassion, mercy, goodbye, and hello, among other sentiments of a similar nature
How much is it to join?
It is Free. Logan Newcomers Club is a not-for-profit organization. We rely upon sponsors and volunteers to support our limited printing and advertising costs at this time. We rely upon our members to help co-host at least one event each year which may be as simple as helping with name tags at a big event or organizing a dinner at a local restaurant.
How can I help?
If you have an activity you enjoy or would like to see more often come to a Meet and Greet or contact a board member and tell them you would like to have a co-host for the event. Two hosts for an event make it much easier to plan and ensures that at least two people will attend and get a chance to know each other better. Between the two of you pick a time and place and let a board member know of your event at least one week in advance. We will then help with event announcements, flyers, and planning.
